About Out Of The Woods Bakery
“You sell cookies in a park?” I know. It seems weird. I sell online, too. It’s an interesting story how it all came about. This whole baking business idea started during the pandemic. I set up a website and an Instagram account and advertised on Google, which didn’t get me anything but clicks and money flowing out of my pocket. I didn’t do that for very long. I knew it was a long shot that anyone would buy if they didn’t know me or if I couldn’t get in front of people. I wasn’t sure how to get this going so I put it aside for a while.
One year later, I was discussing it with my fiancé. I turned to him and said, “I need something like a lemonade stand, but for adults.” The farmer’s markets were too expensive for the small volume I was producing out of my home kitchen, and I needed some kind of intermediary step. What was I to do?
A couple weeks later, the idea popped into my head to sell at a local park, and with it came no shortage of courage. I put together signs, table cloths, made a banner, got a cookie transport container and all the necessary state and city documents and POOF! There I was at Tom Watson Park selling cookies, and best of all, it was working.
I’ve continued this tradition each year starting from September through December 31st, though I’m open year-round for online sales. The recipe is my own, developed over many trial batches of tweaking ingredient amounts, oven temperatures and baking times, until I found the right balance of flavor and texture.
I’m so excited to share my love of making chocolate chip cookies, and feel confident that you will LOVE them too!
Smiles and Baking,
